How to set a stop loss and take profit on Binance

The plan only works if the stop is actually placed. Here's how to do it on Binance — the same ideas apply on Bybit, OKX and Bitget.

On Binance spot

Option 1: OCO (recommended)

  1. After your buy order fills, open the pair (for example SOL/USDT) and choose OCO in the sell panel.
  2. Price (limit): your take-profit, e.g. TP1.
  3. Stop: the signal's stop loss — this is the trigger.
  4. Limit: slightly below the stop (for example 0.3% lower), so the order still fills in a fast drop.
  5. Amount: the coins you want covered. Place the order.

Whichever side triggers first fills, and the other is cancelled.

Option 2: Stop-limit plus separate take-profits

Place one stop-limit sell for the whole position, then limit sells at TP1, TP2 and TP3 for the parts you want to take off at each. Remember to reduce the stop's size as take-profits fill.

On Binance futures

  1. Set isolated margin and a modest leverage.
  2. In the order panel tick TP/SL.
  3. Enter the take-profit and stop-loss prices from the signal. Choose Mark price as the trigger to avoid wicks on thin order books.
  4. Open the position. The TP/SL orders appear under Open orders.

Tips

  • Place the stop immediately after the entry fills.
  • After TP1, move the stop to your entry price to make the rest of the trade risk-free.
  • Check open orders before you close the app — a stop that wasn't placed protects nothing.

Frequently asked questions

What is an OCO order on Binance?

One-Cancels-the-Other: a take-profit limit order and a stop-limit order placed together. When one fills, the other is cancelled automatically.

Why didn't my stop-limit fill?

If price gaps through your limit price, a stop-limit can be skipped. Leave a small gap between the stop (trigger) price and the limit price, or use a stop-market order on futures.
