What this rate is

In most countries people get USDT through P2P: you pay another person in your local currency and the exchange releases their USDT to you from escrow. So the real USDT price where you live is whatever P2P sellers are asking, not the bank's dollar rate.

This page takes the first ten Binance P2P adverts for buying USDT in your currency, and the first ten for selling, and shows the median of each, so a single unusual advert can't move it. The open-market dollar rate is shown alongside so you can see the premium. It covers more than 50 currencies, from the Indian rupee to the Kenyan shilling, Turkish lira, UAE dirham and euro.

Why USDT can cost more than the dollar

  • Sellers charge for the service. They hold the USDT, wait for your payment and take the risk of a reversed transfer.
  • Payment limits. Daily limits on bank transfers and mobile wallets make large amounts harder to move, which pushes prices up.
  • Local demand. Where dollars are hard to get through banks, more people buy USDT, and the P2P premium rises.

A small premium is normal. A seller far below the market is a warning sign — see common crypto scams.

Buying USDT safely

  1. Buy only through the exchange's P2P page, with the escrow, never by direct transfer outside it.
  2. Choose merchants with hundreds of completed trades and a high completion rate.
  3. Pay from an account in your own name, exactly the amount shown, and add nothing like "crypto" in the payment note.
  4. Never release or confirm before the money (or the USDT) is actually in your account.

The full walkthrough is in how to buy crypto with P2P. Once you hold USDT, the spot calculator shows what a trade would make after fees.

Frequently asked questions

What is the USDT rate today?

The live rate is at the top of this page: the median of the first ten Binance P2P adverts for buying and for selling USDT in the currency you pick, updated every few minutes. It opens in your country's currency, and you can switch to any of 50+ others.

Why is USDT more or less expensive than the dollar rate?

On P2P you buy from other people, not from a bank. Sellers charge for their time, payment limits and risk, and local demand for dollars moves the price, so USDT is often a little above the official dollar rate. The premium on this page shows the gap right now.

How do I buy USDT with my local currency?

Most people use the P2P marketplace of a large exchange and pay by bank transfer or a local wallet (UPI in India, M-Pesa in Kenya, for example). Our P2P buying guide walks through it step by step.

Is 1 USDT always equal to 1 US dollar?

USDT is designed to track the US dollar, so 1 USDT is close to $1. In local currencies its price depends on P2P demand, which is why it can differ from the bank dollar rate.
